Chaffle Pizza

Say goodbye to boring wheat crust and enjoy your pizza as a chaffle!





A chaffle is a cheese waffle and it's super easy to make. I took this recipe to the next level by adding some flavorful spices to create a delicious crust base for my favorite pizza toppings. You can jump to the printable recipe here.


First, use 1/2 C mozzarella cheese, 1 egg and Italian seasonings to make your chaffle crust. Here's how it looked right after its cooked.


Top your chaffle crust with about 2T low sugar marinara (pesto is awesome too!)


Next, top it up with your favorites! Notice I didn't add any more mozzarella since the chaffle has 1/2C cheese in it already. But you could totally add more cheese first.

I used ham, mushrooms, bacon, bell pepper and jalapeno on mine, but the possibilities are endless.



Bake in a 400 degree preheated oven, toaster oven, air fryer for about 5-8 minutes. Watch to be sure the cheese is melted and nothing burns.

Chaffle Pizza

Serves 1-2


Ingredients

1 large egg

½ C shredded mozzarella

1/8 tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp Italian seasoning blend

2T marinara

Toppings of choice (I used ham, bacon, mushrooms, bell pepper, jalapenos and grated Parmesan.)


Directions

Preheat a standard-size waffle iron. Preheat toaster oven, regular oven or pellet grill to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.


In a mixing bowl combine egg, cheese, garlic powder and Italian seasoning.


Pour mixture into waffle iron and smooth it out until it’s relatively evenly distributed.


Cook for about 3-5 minutes or until waffle becomes crispy on the edges. Remove chaffle and put it on the prepared baking sheet.


Top with marinara. Add toppings of choice.


Place chaffle into the oven. Cook until toppings are hot and cheese is melted, about 5-8 minutes, depending on the method used above.


Let cool for a couple minutes, then enjoy!
